Today in Tigertime

For those of you who do not know what Tigertime is an advanced reading class.  Well today we talked with our penpals in France with little cameras it was fun. I think they did a great job with there English we are probably going to meet with them again next week.

Zeus

Zeus and his brothers Hades and Poseidon separated the world among themselves. Hades got the underworld. Poseidon got the sea. Zeus got the sky.


A cupture of Zeus

 Zeus was the ruler of the gods and goddesses of Mount Olympus. He was the son of Cronus and Rhea. Cronus was the ruler of the Titans he was also the father of the first gods and goddesses Hera, Poseidon, Hades, Demeter, Hestia.
He ate them all because he thought one of them would kill him Zeus wasn't born yet.  So his mother hid him when he was born.  He had  guards and every time Zeus cried the would have to bang on there shields so Cronus wouldn't hear him.
When Zeus got older his mom Rhea told him every thing bad that his father did she told him how he ate Zeus's brothers and sisters.  So when he grew up his mom came to him and told him a way to kill his father.  Cronus was having a celebration so Zeus made himself look like one of Cronus's servants and he poising his father's wine.  Cronus drank it and vomited Zeus's siblings.  They got away and went to Mount Olympus.
  The Titans declared war.  They fought for a long time and no won was winning so Rhea came to Zeus and told him a way to win the war.  Zeus had to go get his oldest brothers The one hundred hand ones and the cyclops from Tarteus the dungeon that Cronus had thrown them into.
He did has he was told and they made Poseidon, Hades and Zeus weapons.  Zeus got the Thunderbolt.  Poseidon got the Trident.  Hades got the Helm of darkness.The also throw boulders at the Titans.  They won and the sliced up Cronus and put the others except the two good Titans Prometheus and Rhea.

         Athena his daughter was born out of thought.  He thought her up and asked his son Hephaestus to cut open his head with an axe he did and out popped Athena in full battle armor .
   When Hermes god of thieves was born he stole Apollo's flock of sheep.  He apologized and he gave Apollo a lyre.

     One day when Zeus got bored watching the mountains he asked the Titan Prometheus to make him a man.  So Prometheus made a little model of himself out of clay then he sent them to Earth.
    One day Prometheus looked down on his creations and saw that they were cold and hungry.  He wanted to give them fire but he knew Zeus would not let him because with fire the could destroy him.   So he stole some from Apollo and he went down to Earth and gave it to man.  Zeus saw and he ordered Prometheus to be tied to a rock forever.  Now every day a vulture sweeps down and eats part of him.  But he is immortal so he can not die so he as to suffer every day.

Suspects of the Westing Game

Suspect Otis Amber

For one he is always running around saying BOOM! For two he was at the hospital for no reason he also got chased out of the hospital if he was sick or hurt nurses do not just chase people out of the hospitals.  He was yelling at Crow a lot for nothing and he was accusing many different people.

Suspect Flora Baumbach

She is always smiling and she would listen to almost anybody.  No body would suspect a pour old lady and she had a limp towards the first part of the book so she could of bin the person limping. 

Suspect Sydelle Pulaski

She knows how to speak Polish so what else can she do she could of snuck up there and murdered the man.  She wants attention so much she could have murdered him.  She probably got those crutches so no one would think it was her.

Police Report

I received a call asking me to investigate Sunset Towers shortly after the storm by Judge Ford.  When I got to  Theodorakis coffee shop the owners were there along with another group there was Theo and Chris Theodorakis, Angela and Grace Wexler, James Hoo, Sydelle Pulaski, Doug Hoo, Flora Baumbach, and Judge Ford. They were just bombed.
The second bomb happened at Shin Hoo's restaurant they were having a sort of party when the bomb went off no one got seriously hurt but it was a close call.

  The bomber would have to be connected to the victims some how.  They would have to have some experience with bombing because it would not be that easy to do.  The bomber seems to be targeting Sunset Towers but why?  The two bombings seem to have some things in common.  They looked like they were the same type of bomb.  They happened the same day same building.  It looked like the bomber knew when the bomb was going to go off because the person used a candle so the suspect knew when it was going to happen.

Suspects

 I believe that the bomber is Berthe Erica Crow or Dr. Denton

Evidence

They were not there the night of the incident. Crow works at the towers so she could plant the bomb when she is cleaning. The Dr. could really be at the towers instead of at work.

New Westing Character

The new character's name will be Jackson Micheal Sewting.  He lives in room 5D of Sunset Towers.  He was the person limping into the Westing house but he was not the murderer.  He was at the will read and he was pared up with Angela Wexler.   This is what the slip said:

When they got their clue they stopped and listing they heard people blurting some of their clue.  They spent their 10,000 dollars wisely they only bought what they needed. Jackson was in collage so he was pretty smart.

The Westing Game Prediction

I think this story is about a rich dead guy named Sam Westing.  He left a will to 16 people and they get separated into groups and have to find a place where the reward is.  But I think Sam is a sneaky guy so it is going to be hard to find it.  I bet that he picks random strangers to be in his contest.

My Favorite place to be

   My favorite place to be is South Dakota.  I like it because it is beautiful.  It's fun to go to Mount Rushmore and watch it gleam in the sunlight.  It is cool standing on an edge of a cannon.  When you enter South Dakota you see huge hills and mountains.  It his truly fun to go there. 

My Favorite Animal

    My favorite animal the wolf.  I like them because they run really and there ears are made for hearing far distances. They work together when they hunt for food.  They are related to dogs and I love dogs.  They have live birth like humans do.  They live in the woods and have a lot of spare room. 

Bud, Not Chapters 9/14

Chapters 9 /10  
He goes and eats food and the {pretend}  family wasn't there so he ate.  He went to the library and he read a book all day.  He went out side and thought about his dad.   Chapter 10.  He was on the road traveling.  He had to duck in the bushes when cars drove by.  So he saw a car going by and he ducked in the bushes but it was to late he poled over and was looking for him.  He said to Bud if he wanted something to eat so Bud came out.  He gave it to him.  Bud saw some blood and he thought he was a vampire.  So he got in the car and locked the car.   He took off in the car.

Chapter 11/12

To make a long chapter short.  Bud took off the vampire got him but he was not a vampire.  He just was taking blood to a hospital.  Bud fell asleep.

Bud woke he met a woman it was the mans daughter.  Bud ate breakfast the man took him to Grand Rapids.   He went to mans cabin he he saw a circle of men.

Bud thinks Herman E. Calloway is his dad.  So a guy named Jimmy invites Bud to breakfast he goes.  He gets in the car and they go.

He gets there it smells good.  He goes sits at a table with the singer.  She gets his food.  Everyone is talking and laughing and Bud starts to cry.

David Livingstone

 He was born in a town called Blantyre, south of a city called Glasgow, in Scotland on March 19th 1813.  At the age of ten he was working in a cotton mill, and taking school lessons in the evening.  In 1836 he began studying medicine and theology in Glasgow he decided to become a
missionary doctor.  In 1841 he was sent to the Kalahari desert in southern Africa.  In 1845 he got married to a woman named Mary Moffat she was the daughter of one of his fellow missionaries. 
   He went to Africa hopping to find new people and teach them Christianity and freeing them from slavery.  On his second visit he became the first European man to travel across the width of southern Africa and he discovered beautiful waterfall he named Victoria Falls.
    He left again for Africa in 1858 on that trip his wife died of malaria.  The government made him come home and tell them what happened there.  He told them about slave trade there.
  He went on another expedition there it lasted from 1866 till his death in 1873.

Chapter 8 of Bud, Not Buddy

Chapter 8 is mainly about how Bud and Bugs run away. They go to a Cardboard jungle called Hooverville so the people there invite them over to sit by a fire. They eat and Bugs and Bud and two other kid have to do the dishes. So a girl named Deza give instructions to the other people she tells Bud to come with her. They talk and then the kiss each other. The next day the train they were gonna get on started to leave. So a lot a men and a lot of boys start running toward the train including Bud and Bugs. there are a lot of police waiting to stop anyone who tries to get on the train. So the police see how many people they are and some of the them leave. The train starts to leave so everyone ran to the train and Bud did not make it. The police went to the small town and started wrecking it.

Bud, Not Buddy

 Chapter 1

Chapter 1 is mainly about Bud finding out he is moving out of the home.  Bud was in line waiting his turn to eat breakfast.  Then a women comes over and tells Bud and a little boy named Jerry they are moving out of the home. Jerry moves in with a family of three little girls and Bud moves in with the Amoses. 

Chapter 2 

This chapter is mainly about bud getting beat up.  A jerk named Tod starts to mess with Bud when he is sleeping.  So Bud wakes up and slaps Tod.  So Tod starts to beat Bud up.  Tod's mom ears the racket and screams.  To make a long story short Bud gets blamed and so they put him in the shack.  

Chapter 3 

 This chapter is about Buds stay in the shack.  It is so dark you can barely see a thing. Bud is tired so he goes on a stack of wood and sleeps.  when he wakes up he sees a hornets nest put he thinks it a Vampire Bat that will suck his blood.  So he picks up a rake and wackes it hard it splits right in half and a bunch of hornets fly out and start stinging him.  He climbs out the window and gets away.

Chapter 4 

This chapter is mainly about Bud getting is suitcase.  He goes in the house and he picks up the shotgun and points it at the wall. Then he gets a jar and fills it with hot water and dumps it on Tod's bed.  

Chapters 5 - 6 

Bud went to the library and fell a sleep then he went to the free lunch place the next morning.  He could not get in so a family helped him out by pretending he was there child.

 Chapter 7 

He went in to the library and found out that the librarian moved to Chicago.  So he went out side and took a nap.

Kenny Waston charactor profile

Kenny is a young boy he is ten years old.  He is smart and he goes to Clark Elementary school he lives in  Flint Michigan.  He has a brother named Byron and a sister name Joetta.   

My favorite chapter in The Watsons go to Birmangham - 1963

My favorite chapter was chapter 15.  I like it because it is a little funny but still sad. It's funny because at the end Byron opens the bathroom door and Kenny sees that his family was listen.  It's sad because Kenny was so sad his sister almost died I know if my sister almost died I would be real sad.

September 11th 2001

On the sad day of September 11 terrorist ran airplanes into two building, flew an airplane through the Pentagon, and captured a plane with people on it and crashed it to the ground.  There are many different opinions of how many people died in 9/11.

The World Trade Center 

   The first plane hit around 9:30am  they both fell at around 10:00am.  Many people died in this attack. 343 firefighters and paramedics died.  1,402 employees died in tower 1.  614 employees died in tower 2. 

 The Pentagon 

  Around 125 people died in the attack of the Pentagon.  The plane that hit the pentagon only hit one side but it still killed a lot of  people.  The same people who flew the airplanes into the World Trade Center did this.  

Flight 93

  Many experts think that flight 93 was heading to the White House but some brave people sacrificed there lives to save others.  The airplane landed in Pennsylvania.  Many people say that people shot it down there are many theories about what happened but one thing is for sure the people on flight 93 had courage.  

The after affects of 9/11

  Evan after the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and flight 93 terrorist were still trying to kill us Americans.   They started to put a chemical called Anthrax in our mailboxes. 

Bud, Not Buddy-Prediction

I think this story is about a kid named Bud and his friend Bugs.  I think Bud is the protagonist [protagonist means the main character].  It looks like from the cover that Bud or Bugs likes music and it looks like he is moving to some where.  It looks like this story took place back then because his clothes looks older.  This story might be about segregation and how African Americans were treated badly.   

What I felt about chapter 14 of The Wastons go to birmingham -1963

I felt happy and sad.  I felt happy because Joetta made it out OK.  I felt sad because many people got killed or hurt.  White people should not have done this it was very wrong it's not the first time they have done something like this.  People are people no mater what color they are.

World Trade Center

The Sun

   The Sun is a star it is an average sized star the white star is the hottest and the biggest.   The red is the coldest and the smallest.    

  Sunspots are darker cooler spots on the sun two hole Earths could fit in an average sunspot.   

The sun is a huge ball of gas it does not actually burn like fire does.  

  The suns surface is about 6000°C  the suns core is about 15,000,000°C.   

  The sun is about 150,000,000 miles away from Earth.  1.3 million Earths can fit inside the sun.

  The sun gets it energy from explosions that happen on it.

Chapters 5-6 The Wastons go to Birmingham 1963

Chapter 5 

   This chapter is about Bryon.  His mom told him so many times to not play with fire.  So he does and he gets in trouble.  She swears with god as a witness that next time he does it she will burn him.  So he goes to to the bathroom and locks the door behind him.  He starts to burn toilet paper tubes and he throws them down the toilet and why they go down it makes a glub glub glub sound.  So mama comes up to see what the noise is and she sees Byron.  So she tries to burn him boy Joetta keeps blowing the matches out.  

Chapter 6 

   This chapter is about Byron and Kenny.  Mama asked Kenny and Byron to walk down to the store and get food for supper.  So Byron asked for money and so mama said that they could just sign for it. So Kenny and Byron went down to the store and got the food.  They walked home and Byron carried the bags.  The next day the Kenny was walking and he saw Byron and had cookies and Kenny ate some and so he found out that Byron signed for it with out asking.  So Byron saw a bird and he threw a few cookies at it and one hit it and it died.  Byron starts to puke and he told Kenny to scram.  So Kenny comes back later and sees that Byron had made a grave for it. 

The Wastons Go to Birgnaham 3/4

Chapter 3 

    Chapter three is about Kenny and Rufus.  First Rufus follows Kenny around and Rufus wont leave Kenny alone.  Rufus is always getting bullied by people because he talks weird.  At first Kenny is OK with it but then he starts getting a little annoyed.  He likes it because he has someone to play dinosaurs with.  He played with a kid named L. J before he stopped playing with L. J because L. J kept stealing Kenny's dinosaurs.  

Chapter 4 

    This chapter is again is about Kenny and Rufus.   On the bus a kid name Larry Dunn makes fun of Rufus and Kenny starts to laugh.  So Rufus is mad at Kenny.  After a few days Kenny's mom sees something is wrong so she goes to Rufus and talks to him.  So Rufus and Kenny are friends again.  At school Larry Dunn takes Kenny's gloves so Byron beats him up. 

Alligators

Alligators are aggressive but they are good parents.  They carry their babies on their back.   They are reptiles and they are cold blooded they are also vertebrates witch means they have a back bone.  The female lays eggs in a nest along side the water the female lays a clutch of
three dozen eggs a year.

 They usually live in swampy areas.  They are predators witch means the hunt for there food.  They usually live up to about nine to ten years.  Alligator eat any thing they can get there hands on there not picky eaters.  They have about 75 pointed teeth. 

The Wastons go to birmingham -1963 Chapter 1/2

Chapter 1

     Chapter 1 is mainly about a family.  It is really cold were they live.  So they decide to go to there aunts house because she as a new heater.  So the dad goes out to start their old car.  Then the dad comes back in and say it started and they all cheered.  So Kenny and Byron have to go and scrape the windows on the car.  So Byron kissed is reflection in the mirror and got his lips stuck on the mirror.  So Kenny ran in side and yelled " Come quick Byron is stuck" so everyone came out and dad started laughing mom and Joetta started crying.  So mom told Joetta and dad to go get more supplies.  So why they were inside mom ripped Byron off the mirror. 

Chapter 2 

     Chapter two is mainly about Kenny's life at school.  Kenny is always getting bullied.  He reads in front of different classrooms so one day he goes to Byron's room and he is so nervous that he makes mistakes.  So before he got out of the building Byron an his friend stopped Kenny and Byron complemented Kenny.  So when Kenny is on the bus he asked god for a savior so then two people got on the bus and he said they were is own personal savior. 

Sharks

Sharks have many rows of teeth.   Some shark's teeth can bite through metal.  

 Sharks are vertebrates that means they have a backbone and they are also cold blooded that means there body temperature changes.   Some sharks have about 35,000 teeth a life time.   

 The Whale shark is the largest shark it eats plankton and small fish.  The smallest shark is the world is the Dwarf Lantern shark it eats small fish.  

More people die from car accidents then from shark attacks.   

Some sharks can be found in fresh water.
